Koh Samui Fine Art: “Window to Koh Samui”
This is an unparalleled Koh Samui, Thailand beach resort fine art print, an impromptu car ride and funny trip to an unknown part of an island that I had never been to and just added another story to my adventures. “Window to Koh Samui” is not just a sunset; it is the culmination of a last-minute decision, a hilarious drive, and a stubborn refusal to turn back, resulting in a piece of Thailand landscape photography that most people are caught up in other things, so they don’t go and get a photo like this – and especially something that you can print out more than a couple feet in dimensions.
This moment was worth every bit of the effort. After asking the hotel staff for a car ride and getting a manual transmission Suzuki Samurai instead, the adventure was on. The roads in Thailand are on the left side, and a manual transmission with everything backwards on the other side of the planet didn’t make the journey any easier. We had to hike through some seriously mosquito-infested woods to get to this hidden beach near the Four Seasons, and let me tell you, I was glad I had my bug spray. My buddy was not so fortunate and he got bit to shit on that beach, but the results were amazing and the adventure was just as great.
The effort, the struggle, and the ridiculousness of the journey all melt away when you see the results. The reward was this pretty cool sunset that grabbed the last light of the day with some cool unexpected colors, framed by the calm palm trees that were hiding the mosquitos, placid water of the hidden beach. It’s a shot that speaks to the wild and spontaneous spirit of travel and the beautiful chaos of chasing the perfect moment, even though you just wanted to get a sunset shot with a new camera. This was one of my first sunset shots with this particular camera that I dragged along with me on this trip and you can read more about the trip and see other pics about it here in the Stories Section.
