The end of January of 2013 in Red Rock National Conservation Area we had an extremely nice surprise while hiking in the low lying areas of the wash – Mule Deer! With just 3 being seen on the first hike, amongst a herd of burros, they were all 3 bucks off in the distance. Skittish as deer are, they soon vanished into the brush of the wash and probably into another valley to avoid the nuisance of humans.
On a return trip, the following week, we were able to see more of the heard bedded down in different spots in the wash. As we approached them, the deer took off and I was able to get the shots off that you see in the portfolio and the photo below.
