The Watchman – Zion National Park, Utah
As one of the most popular spots to take a photo in Zion National Park, the Canyon Junction Bridge that crosses the Virgin River is lined with Photographers at Sunset every single day. As with everything that AJ Pagano shoots, the idea is to have the least amount of people nearby and the least amount of human impact. That day a snowstorm was moving through southern Utah preceded by freezing cold weather and he was traveling through scenic Zion and noticed there was no one on the bridge with the inclimate weather. With a quick stop and the ND (neutral density) filter still on the camera lens, AJ grabbed the sunset for the evening with no one in the background of the shot walking around, nor anyone around him. You can see the silky water and the feathered wisping clouds from a long exposure with the extra dark filter on the lens.
