Arches National Park

Arches National Park…

…was just an opportunity along Rt 191 outside of Moab, UT during and after a snowstorm to grab some photos of a park that doesn’t normally get the snowfall that I witnessed. During my trip to Canyonlands National Park, the winter storm Kayla blanketed my plans of camping in the park, so I took the extra time to shoot Arches. Arches is much more of a car driven park with really no wilderness areas, so covering most of the park’s sites was pretty easy. But with the limited about of time I had given myself, I had a limited about of light sequences to shoot the landmarks snowfall. Enjoy the gallery below with this rare weather event.

All of the photos are available in large format panoramic prints as well as smaller prints on paper media with both formats going through a rigorous printing process to represent the exact moment the photographs were taken. In the case of the black and white photography, the snowfall was to thick to view any background landscapes as well as unsaturating the color of the sandstone. By using a black and white representation of the arches adds a dramatic element to an otherwise bleached photo.
