This 30″ X 29″ aluminum print was taking along the John Muir Trail at Rae Lakes Basin in Kings Canyon National Park. I set out for a 4 night backpacking trip to get this photo far away from the light pollution of any population centers high elevation in the eastern Sierra. I had been at Charlotte Lake a couple years prior and captured the photo My Toe is Still Numb the first time I had ventured into the Sierra High Country across the divide. I had been there a few times at all different portions of Kings Canyon and Sequoia, so now I had a particular spot and shot that I wanted to get. The Painted Lady – a striped granite northern facing mountain face that resembles paint and I will go it is the color of her dress. And she sits over the Rae Lakes Basin in the southern part of Kings Canyon National Park.
