The Milky Way and Mule Deer, from east of Cedar City, UT

Although there were forecasts of the Northern Lights making it the furthest south into the northern portion of the US, it didn’t happen. But I was able to get away to a friend’s property just east of Cedar City, Utah and got some great pics of the Milky Way. The moon didn’t come out until after midnight and a clear sky gave way to some great pics of our galaxy, so there were some images from space this weekend.

The area is just south of Cedar Breaks National Monument and is full of wildlife, so snapping a few pics of deer and turkey wasn’t a problem. Both skittish creatures were out and about during the day with a limited amount of light from a half moon that didn’t make it out till after midnight, leaving the turkeys and deer to forage during daylight hours.
